she's married.

maria tortilla is married!
we met the summer before our freshman year in high school in summer basketball.
the wedding party.
maria has always been a wonderful friend.
she was in my wedding and now i was in hers.
it was an honor to be a part of her special day.
best friends.
the girls.
maria and i were inseparable in high school.
we played all sports together and made lots of fun memories.
i feel like we are the kind of friends that you don't really have to say anything and you know what the other person is thinking.
maria and her family are very special to me.
maria and monte went to prom together...and now they are married!
shafter high friends.
i pray that she and monte have a very happy marriage!

why ask why?

in my daily devotions i have been reading the

NKJV, The Word for Today Bible. by Pastor Chuck Smith

Pastor Chuck Smith has little snippets and excerpts throughout the whole Bible.
He explains things as you are reading.

I have been reading in Job for a while and this morning i was reading and it couldn't have spoken to me any more than it did! I really needed to hear this so i thought i would share it with you. i hope that it can encourage you as much as it has me this morning!

Job 35:2 More Righteous Than God? (Pastor Chuck's explanation of this verse)

"There are many people who infer that their righteousness is superior to God's. Anytime someone asks a question that begins with "Why does God..." they are really calling into question the fairness and righteousness of God. The idea is, "If I were God, I would do things a lot differently. I wouldn't do the things that He does." When we question God and infer that something He has done doesn't seem right, we are applying our own standards for righteousness to God and are suggesting that we have an understanding of righteousness that allows us to question His.

There is so much that we do not know. But when we get to heaven and know as we are known, we will readily acknowledge that God did exactly the right thing, every time."

this really told me not to ask why and question God in any way. i have to trust that God is sovereign and and He does not make mistakes.

why?

sometimes in life something happens and it makes you ask,
why? why? why?

and then a little time passes and you still ask, why?

then a few days go by and you still can't figure things out.

i am trying to make sense of things right now and be thankful for all i have.

but almost every other minute i am asking why?
why? why? why?

here is gabriella at her finest!

she is the cutest little thing.
she loves picking her own clothes out...
and she is REALLY into layering right now.

this particular morning she came out with 5 shirts, a pair of jeans and a jean skirt.
she wanted to wear them all.
i told her she could wear 2 shirts...and she could only wear the skirt if she got some leggings.

so she got herself dressed and this is how she ended up.
i had no idea she was going to wear the jean skirt inside her pants.
i was laughing so hard, but i didn't let her know what i was laughing at.

i really thought the cinderella heels and tube socks were just the right finishing touches...

2 for 2 would be a good thing if you were in a basketball game down by one point.
but in this situation,
NOT GOOD!!!


JAKE BROKE HIS ARM!!
yes you read that right!
the worst part is we have NO idea when or where or how it happened. apparently he has an abnormally high tolerance to pain like his sister and uncle rob.

the first time i remember him whimpering was when i put his jammies on him about 2 days ago. then last night when i put his jammies on him he started crying. jacob inspected his arm and we decided it was hurt.

so i called the doctors and they said we could just take him in in the morning. so off we went to the doctors at 7am. the doctor didn't know if it was his elbow out of joint so we were sent to radiology at the hospital.

had the x-ray. then on our way home the doctor called and said radiology called and said it was broken and he needed to go to the orthopedic specialists.
we now have a light blue cast to keep clean and dry:)

*less than one year ago gabriella broke her arm...twice.*

please pray for quick healing!

handsome hampton.

jake got his first haircut.

it was very hard because i knew he was going to look like such a big boy when he was done.

he rested his head on me the whole time.

i just picked him up and moved him from side to side.

jake also got his first lollipop.

and he loved every lick.

my very handsome guys!

easter.

it was a chilly morning.

our church service was outside.

gabriella went potty on the top of a huge playground after the service.

her dress stayed totally dry.

our house shook. 7.2 earthquake hit 300 miles from us.

we celebrated the true meaning of Easter!


HE IS RISEN!

this is not where it happened.

jake fell at santee lakes on monday.
he was running on the cement, which he forgot isn't allowed and tripped.
gabriella forgot to remind him we only run on the grass.
so this was the result.


he cried, but not very much.
he is getting his haircut this saturday and then with Easter on sunday, we won't forget this fall since we will be reminded in lots of pictures.

swimming.

this weekend we got to go swimming for the first time this year.
we went in a heated pool and the kids LOVED it!

only one went potty in the pool
and two threw up...from drinking too much water.
gabriella insisted the whole time that she could swim.
she would push off of us and kick really hard and go straight down!
she is going to be a great swimmer, watch our swimming world...
as long as she can figure out how to stay on top of the water.
