disney princesses

for melonie's birthday she wanted to go to disneyland and meet the princesses.
we always focus more on getting on the rides, rather than finding characters, but not this time!
there is a new place where cinderella tells her story.
then the princess dance with the kids and teach them how to bow and curtsy and wave like a princess does.
after the dancing we were able to get some pics and autographs.
the girls were so nervous, but it was so cute and well worth the time.
we will definitely do it again because apparently it's different princesses each time.
Thank you Auntie Erica for these wonderful pictures of this special time for our girls! i know we all enjoyed seeing the excitement on their faces as much as they liked seeing the princesses.
Melonie and Gabriella are our little Princesses!

a circle.

so gabi has been learning shapes at pre-school and she likes to draw and look for different shapes.
the other night she was practicing her cutting and we weren't watching her.
apparently she went to get her wallet and she pulled out a dollar bill.
in search for a circle there just happened to be one right in the middle of that dollar bill so she did what anyone looking for shapes to cut out would do!
she cut that circle out!
when i went out to check on her i asked her what she was doing and she said,"a circle!"
all i could do was smile because she was right it is a circle and i couldn't argue with that!
then we had the we never cut money talk!
now i have a nice circle to put in her baby book.
never a dull moment!

our weekend.

this weekend we had friends visiting.
marcie and i met the summer before our freshmen year in high school in summer basketball.
i remember the first time she yelled whose HAUDE?!
that is what was written on my water bottle.
i'm not sure if i even answered her.
i just remember she was loud.
she is now one of my best friends.
i was in her wedding and she was in mine.
we did junior miss together, took rides in our cars around town when we got our licenses and spent lots of time hanging out.
when we graduated from high school there were some people i never talked to again, but marcie and i have managed to keep our friendship going strong.
she is the kind of friend you don't have to talk to everyday and that is ok!
she always brings a smile to my face when i see her because you never know what she is going to say.
now she and her wonderful husband have this little cutie and my kids just love him so much!
we had a great weekend visiting with them at our house.
i am so thankful for our friendship!

ayso 2011

growing up soccer was what we did when it wasn't swimming season.
every saturday was spent out at the soccer fields.
my dad was always the coach and it was a family event.
this year gabi is old enough to start playing.
jacob also loved playing soccer growing up so we were so excited to see if gabi would love it too.
her first practice made me smile the whole time.
because she is so tiny
because she had pig tails
because she was wearing jean shorts.
jacob said she can't play in jean shorts, but she is so small i had trouble finding athletic shorts because none of them are adjustable waist!
i ended up finding her some that are size 18 months at kohls and they fit perfectly!
jake got the same ones in size 24 months :)
we bought her a ball, shin guards, socks and shoes for Christmas at big 5.
the smallest shoes they sold were size 10.5.
they were huge so at the first practice gabi had a hard time staying on her feet and kept tripping.
my mom found a soccer store and we were able to get her shoes that fit her better...size 8!
she can wear the 1o.5 shoes in a another season...someday.
the whole thing was just so exciting for her and it just made me so happy.
she really had no idea what to expect.
gab was a bit nervous at the beginning, but she liked it a lot. i kind of figured she would.
her team is made up of 3 girls and one boy.
the age group is 4 to 5 year olds and gabi is the only 4 year old on her team.
they are all first time players.
we have 9 games.
our coach is very positive and i know it is going to be a great season.

nice to meet you.

hi papa! i'm hudson...
hi uncle rob! i've heard your voice, but you've never held me before...
auntie erica, thanks for coming to california to hold me and cuddle.
hudson finally got to meet three very important people in his life. we don't get to see them everyday, but boy oh boy will they all have a huge impact on his life.
you gotta start them out young with the coffee!
it was a wonderful thing to see my dad get to hold my new baby boy.
these next 90 days can't go by fast enough until he is back for good!
hudson can't wait for more hugs and kisses!

BIG plans

i have BIG plans i tell ya! B-I-G!
BIG, BIG, BIG!
our spring break is going to be very productive!!
i am determined to make the most of this time.
here is the list i made the other day at about 2am while nursing.
i have to make lists to keep myself awake during these late night/early morning feedings.

Spring Break 2011:
-do crafts from school (gabi missed school on friday so her teacher said i could stop by and get the crafts they did so we can do them at home)
-make Easter cookies
-teach the kids the real meaning of Easter
-do a planned craft with the kids every other day
-get pics. developed for frames
-clean garage
-frame kids' art
-do some hoop art

i forgot to add to start our garden.
alright so i sat down a few minutes ago to see what i wanted to get started on today and when i pulled up my list on my ipod i found my list to be a bit longer!
without really looking at it i just thought, man i don't remember writing that many things down. there is no way i am going to be able to get all of this done.
then upon further inspection i noticed my husbands idea of a funny little joke was to add clean garage in between each item on my list.
so now my list looks a something like this!
thanks, honey for reminding me what your top priority is for me to get done during our spring break!
i love you!

spring break and little helpers

today starts gabi's two weeks off for spring break!
two weeks is a long time, but it will fly by.
i have lots of plans for our two weeks of no driving to and from school.
pre school may only be 3 hours mon. wed. fri., but when you leave a half hour early for drop off and pick up it feels like i don't get much done at all on those days.
i basically nurse hudson right before we leave for school, then during school i nurse him right before we have to go pick our little girl up.
i always have high hopes to get things done during that time when jake naps, but i have been so tired that nothing really gets done and then it's time to leave again.
so, i am very excited to stick around home.

i'm sure i will get a lot done with my two little helpers!
i am never short on helping hands these days.
i was in the shower the other day and gabi wanted to help do hudson's buckles on his seat.
she was happy to help and he was content with just watching her do her handy work .
well this was the outcome.
not exactly what hudson had in mind i'm sure.
both legs squeezed into one leg hole, not too comfy i'm sure.
yet he was still smiling! what a good sport.

2 months

on march 29th hudson turned 2 months old!
we have had family visiting so i haven't been able to post his pics.
i must say that he is getting cuter and cuter.
he is starting to stay awake a little longer between naps.
he's also started cooing and he has the biggest smile ever!
so far hudson is pretty easy to predict what he wants when he gets fussy.
i am happy to say i can lay this little guy down for a nap awake and he will put himself to sleep.
i know this is the goal to having a baby with good sleep habits so this is very exciting to me to see that we are well on our way to a good sleeper!
hudson hasn't lost a single strand of hair and i love combing it after his baths.
hudson got great compliments on his growth at his 2 month check-up.
getting shots was definitely not fun.
5 shots at one time! no thank you!
2 month stats:
weight: 11 lbs. 6 oz.
height: 22 1/4 in.
head circ.: 15 in.
*15th % for a 40 weeker, 85th % for a 36 weeker for all three measurements.
hudson is such a little cuddler and just curls up in a ball when you hold him and he falls asleep!
it makes me feel so peaceful and almost puts me to sleep when i hold him and watch him sleep in my arms, but anyone who knows me knows that it doesn't take much to make me fall asleep:)
