praying.

at every meal we ask who wants to pray and jake always says jake pray.

he refuses to hold our hands anymore because gabriella taught him a while back to cross his fingers and then he puts his head down on his hands.
it's pretty hard to make out what all he says. you can usually hear him utter words like
food, mommy, daddy.
our dinner prayers have gotten really long and i do my very best not to laugh most nights because it's so darn cute to hear them pray and talk to Jesus.
if i'm not laughing i have tears and get choked up because i feel so lucky to hear their sweet words.

things that they are thankful for and the things on their minds.
gabriella has recently started praying really long prayers. sometimes i peek and jake is seated across from her with his little hands crossed and his eyes closed and his head down.
they are very patient with eachother as the other one is praying.

the other night we were getting ready to eat and jake was praying and soon after he started his prayer turned into singing,
"Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong.
They are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
The Bible tells me so!"
it was so cute. this is what was on his heart and i loved every word.

Jacob and i just looked at eachother and smiled when he was done praying.

sprinkling.

gabi was sitting next to me on the couch yesterday watching psalty and started to wiggle.
she said, "My toes keep trying to be sprinkley."
i said, "what?"
she said again, "my toes keep trying to be sprinkley."
then she said," owe! stop it!" (she was saying this to her feet)
she took her shoe off and started to stretch her foot and move her toes with her hand.
i quickly figured out that she had been sitting on her feet and they had fallen asleep.
i kind of laughed because it was so cute to hear her description.
i asked her if it felt like there were little dots all over and she said yes, so i told her her feet had fallen asleep and that happens sometimes when we sit on them.
she went back to singing along with psalty.
a couple minutes later she said, "mom, they stopped sprinkling."
it's these little things that make me so happy to be a mom.

our cloth diaper adventure.

a few months before i had hudson i did tons and tons of research on cloth diapering.
i was essentially trying to find ways we could save money.
cloth diapering was an avenue i had never thought about before, until sara jo lit a spark in me.
it was something i thought would be disgusting and horrible and i would never do that!
i thought that because i didn't know how they worked or what they looked like.
until i started researching.....i feel like i know so much about cloth diapers now, i could write a book!

i decided to go with FuzziBunz one size cloth diapers.
it was a big investment right away, but in about 4 or 5 months we will make our money back. meaning from then on we will be saving each month...and all of that money will really add up when you consider these diapers can be worn until hudson is potty trained! that is the reason i chose the one size diapers...they fit sizes 7lbs to 35 lbs!
i am so excited and really loving how soft these are on his little heiney.
washing them is really not bad at all. since i am solely breastfeeding i simply put the diapers in the diaper pail...whether wet or dirty and then dump them in the washer.
i made my own diaper pail liner and it cost me around $5.00, which is a great price because i would never be able to buy it that cheap.
i still need to make a big wet bag to carry with me in my diaper bag, but that will be easy and fun!
i will post some pics of my diaper pail and bags when they are all done!
so far i am loving this new adventure.
i took all of these pics. on hudson's one month birthday, which was the first day he started wearing his FuzziBunz. he was almost 9 lbs. and we haven't had a single leak or blowout at this point...we did have a blowout with a disposable, which was not a pretty sight!

also, an added bonus that i never thought of before is that jake is learning all of his colors when he helps pick out what color diaper he wants hudson to wear.
my one and only regret is that i didn't do this with gabriella and jake because we would have saved so much money! but it's never too late to start and we will still save a lot of money.
i mean if that is not the cutest thing you have ever seen then i don't know what is!:)

one month.

yesterday hudson was a whole 1 month old!
we went to the doctor for a check-up and the doctor said he looked great!
he weighed 8 lbs. 12 oz.
and was 21 1/4 inches tall!
that always makes me laugh when they say, "ok lets see how tall you are!"

the doc. said he is in the 90th percentile for his weight for being born at 36 weeks.
if he would have been born full term he would be in the 13th percentile for his weight
since hudson was born at 36 weeks that is the chart they said they will look at so he is growing great and he is a great eater!

i can't help but look at my little guy and wonder what he will be when he grows up.
i pray that he will be a light in a dark world.

we did a one month photo shoot and of course big sister and big brother had to be holding their little baby brother hudson.
here are the kids holding their baby brother hudson!

*when i was still pregnant gabi would talk to my belly and she would ask him, "do you want to come out and play with the kids?" and then another time she asked him, "are you still trapped in there baby?"

when gabi got done holding hudson i had to feed him and jake was very upset because he didn't get to hold his baby brother. so then it was his turn.
such love!

stripes.

i do love a stripped shirt or maybe even a dress, but you can never go wrong with stripes on a newborn.
these stripes are the cutest i have seen in a long time!

you can tell who had a full belly and was content and who was ready to get out of the picture and was ready to eat!
