our cloth diaper adventure.

a few months before i had hudson i did tons and tons of research on cloth diapering.
i was essentially trying to find ways we could save money.
cloth diapering was an avenue i had never thought about before, until sara jo lit a spark in me.
it was something i thought would be disgusting and horrible and i would never do that!
i thought that because i didn't know how they worked or what they looked like.
until i started researching.....i feel like i know so much about cloth diapers now, i could write a book!

i decided to go with FuzziBunz one size cloth diapers.
it was a big investment right away, but in about 4 or 5 months we will make our money back. meaning from then on we will be saving each month...and all of that money will really add up when you consider these diapers can be worn until hudson is potty trained! that is the reason i chose the one size diapers...they fit sizes 7lbs to 35 lbs!
i am so excited and really loving how soft these are on his little heiney.
washing them is really not bad at all. since i am solely breastfeeding i simply put the diapers in the diaper pail...whether wet or dirty and then dump them in the washer.
i made my own diaper pail liner and it cost me around $5.00, which is a great price because i would never be able to buy it that cheap.
i still need to make a big wet bag to carry with me in my diaper bag, but that will be easy and fun!
i will post some pics of my diaper pail and bags when they are all done!
so far i am loving this new adventure.
i took all of these pics. on hudson's one month birthday, which was the first day he started wearing his FuzziBunz. he was almost 9 lbs. and we haven't had a single leak or blowout at this point...we did have a blowout with a disposable, which was not a pretty sight!

also, an added bonus that i never thought of before is that jake is learning all of his colors when he helps pick out what color diaper he wants hudson to wear.
my one and only regret is that i didn't do this with gabriella and jake because we would have saved so much money! but it's never too late to start and we will still save a lot of money.
i mean if that is not the cutest thing you have ever seen then i don't know what is!:)

Yes, absolutely the cutest thing ever. . . especially with that sweet little round belly of his. love it!
I have never had a blow out with cloth diapers. I have had leaks (but only because I have gone too long without changing them--oops on my part).
And I am ALL ABOUT the one size diaper. Isn't it amazing how long they can wear them?!? And, I don't know if you are, but if you ever have another baby then you already have all of your diapers. And if you decide not to have another baby well there is always Rob & Erica :) OR you sell them.
Cloth diapering... another one on board! woot woot!
